ARINS: Rebooting the Public Sector

-

Location: Ulster University, Belfast

How can the next Stormont Executive deliver positive public service transformation without damaging its political and public mandate?

ARINS (Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South) — a joint initiative of the Keough-Naughton Institute and the Royal Irish Academy — along with Ulster University, the Campaign for Social Science, and United Kingdom Association for Public Administration (UKAPA) present a one-day event as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science week.

Covering the key policy areas of education, health, law, and criminal justice and housing/infrastructure, the conference will consider how best to bring about meaningful, lasting, and positive change.

With a keynote address by Professor Matt Flinders (University of Birmingham) and a range of speakers from across academia and the public sector, this conference will provoke wide-ranging discussions between leading experts.

These collaborative discussions will enable the identification of creative, practical and positive steps for improving the public sector in Northern Ireland in the interests of the wider community.

ARINS (Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South) is a joint academic project of the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies in the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs and the Royal Irish Academy, an all-island learned society founded in 1785 and one of Ireland’s leading cultural institutions.
