Pailyn Groene is a Naughton Fellow pursuing an masters in Biomedical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, specializing in the medical device design stream. Her thesis will focus on designing a benchtop respiratory rig for testing novel devices designed to treat ventilator associated pneumonia.
Originally from Columbus Ohio, Pailyn graduated in May from the University of Notre Dame with a bachlors in Mechanical engineering. Her passion for biomedical engineering developed at Notre Dame through her research in the IRIS lab where she helped with the development of a soft robotic wrist exoskelton for stroke survivors. She led groups within the EnableND club to design 3D printed prosthetics for children in the US. Pailyn is passionate about using her education and experience to pursue a career in the research and design of innovative medical devices.
Pailyn enjoys reading, hiking, and baking. At Trinity Pailyn is involved with the Trinity Sub-Aqua Club and the Trinity hiking Society.
