Robert Black

Assistant Director for Student and Academic Affairs

Robert Black is a Double Domer originally from Long Island. He manages all of the academic opportunities available to undergraduates through Notre Dame Dublin including semester study abroad at DCU, TCD, and UCD; and the various summer programmes available to students: Dublin Summer (DSP), Dublin Engineering (ESP), and Dublin Mendoza Summer (MSP). Robert is responsible for all aspects of project management and delivery and is always more than happy to speak with students at any point during the study abroad experience; from pre-programme discernment to reminiscing about past adventures in Ireland.

Robert graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics in 2107 and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2018. He is currently a student at Trinity College Dublin, pursuing an M.Phil. in Theology, and completed a dissertation on the concept of vicarious representation in soteriology and its importance in pastoral-oriented communities. He is a Dublin boomerang: conducting research as Naughton Fellow during the summer of 2015, studying abroad at University College Dublin in 2016, and interning at the O’Connell House in the summer of 2017.

Robert is a three-time All-Ireland champion in Irish dance with the Notre Dame/St. Mary’s Céilí Team, and enjoys cheering on his adopted county, Cavan. When not out exploring Ireland with students on weekends, he can be found in one of Ireland’s many parish or town halls, dancing into the wee hours of the morning or spending quality time with his dog, Danny, Cú Chonaill.
